Industry headlines on fuel prices, diesel forecasts and parcel surcharges, plus every carrier rule change this site has logged. Carriers change how fuel surcharges are calculated several times a year; each change has its own page.

Industry headlines

The latest fuel, diesel and parcel pricing stories from trade, retail and energy publications, refreshed every few hours.

Carrier rule changes

  1. UPS: Ground, Ground Saver and Domestic Air tables reset

Both tables rise 0.5 percentage points at today’s fuel prices. The point where Ground switches to slow, $0.27 steps moves from $4.99 to $5.80 diesel, and Air from $3.01 to $3.56 jet fuel, so surcharges fall more slowly if fuel drops.

  2. UPS: Ground table bottom extended

The fine-step range was extended lower without a rate-update notice, slowing the decline in the surcharge when diesel eases.

  3. DHL Express: Jet fuel index table lowered

Every bracket of the U.S. Express table was reduced, one of the few downward table moves this year.

  4. FedEx: International export and import tables merged

One unified table now applies both ways. Exports effectively rose about 3.5 percentage points; imports dipped slightly.

  5. FedEx: Ground and Express pivot prices raised

The coarse-step zone now starts at $4.99 diesel (was $3.55) and $3.01 jet fuel (was $2.06), so the surcharge stays higher for longer when fuel falls.

  6. DHL eCommerce: Domestic per-pound table raised

At the diesel tier in effect then, the domestic charge nearly doubled, from $0.15 to $0.29 per pound.

  7. USPS: First-ever 8% fuel and transportation surcharge

Applies to Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, Ground Advantage and Parcel Select through January 17, 2027.

  8. Amazon FBA: 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge

Added to FBA fulfillment fees, then to Multi-Channel Fulfillment and Buy with Prime. No end date announced.

  9. UPS and DHL Express: Domestic tables raised; DHL goes weekly

UPS raised Ground by up to 1.5 percentage points and Air by up to 2.5 percentage points. DHL Express moved from monthly to weekly fuel updates.

  10. Amazon Air Cargo: Fuel surcharge introduced

A weekly per-shipment surcharge based on the EIA Gulf Coast jet fuel average, triggered above $2.59 per gallon.

  11. OnTrac: New, higher fuel index

The published range moved from 16.75%–22.75% to 17.75%–28.50%.
